Cook For A Cure -- Recipe Books Now Available!

My lovely friend Jasmine was working her buns off last year collecting, as she put it, delectably delicious, divinely sinful, family favorite recipes, from her friends, family and fans, for The Cure Congenital Muscular Dystrophy Cookbook. It is now ready for advance ordering! I've placed my order and received confirmation that it will ship mid-August. Can't wait!

If you're interested in ordering, please following this link to Jasmine's blog, the post with the ordering information.

If I didn't know about all of the scrumptious recipes inside, I could be tempted to purchase it just for the fabulous cover art. Jasmine and her son Isis are the creative force behind it. Isn't it awesome?!

Please consider checking it out. It's in support of a great cause!!

52 Lists for 2010 - List 30

This week's list, my favourite songs.

I had some 'rock & roll' paper that I washed with a bit of green. The letters for the word 'song' and the crown are some of the goodies from Stacy. I tried to use some flocking for the word 'favorite' but I brushed off the 'f' by accident.  Ooops!

The list keeps growing in my head! Need an extra page for this one too!

52 Lists for 2010 - List 29

This week's list, the mosts memorable friends from your past.

Scrap of cardboard and a thin layer of gesso, butterfly punch, some bits and pieces and ribbon and rub ons and done.

Most of the friends I chose to list are those I no longer have contact with. I recently reacquainted myself with Darc, Sandi and Gwen on FB and wish I could find more people from my past there. Maybe some of those from list are there. I should search a bit more. I really love FB for that!

New Glasses for Gab . . .

. . . chemo for me. Blogged in great detail here

Gaby's appointment was two weeks ago, and towards the end of the last week, she was getting so antsy. We called Friday and Monday, and were told yesterday that they were expected today. While I was at the hospital, they got the call. Gaby recognized the incoming name and picked up. So as soon as Marc and I returned, we piled into the car so that Gaby could get her hands on her long awaited spectacles. Doesn't she look fabulous?!

Right now, they're a novelty. Not sure that will last. But for now, she loves them.

When were returned home, we found a surprise between the front doors:

Still warm soft pretzels. No note. But we suspect Jim, next door. He often picks up a dozen, and shares them. Assuming it was you Jim, thanks!! Always a favourite of Gaby's and something I especially felt like eating today. Great timing.

52 Lists for 2010 - List 28

Its Monday -- on track again!

This week's list is bands/performers that I have seen live.

I had a scrap of burgundy coloured corrugated cardboard, added a bit of paint. The lady with the parasol is from one of those free pages in a Stampington publication. Duchess tag from a past line of Kaisercraft paper. Metal edging by 7gypsies, buttons, a fleur and some gel markers.

Having a tougher time remembering these. The big names are easy to remember, but there have been many obscure bands/performers over the years. Will they come back to me or are they lost forever?!

We are WINNERS!

Thank you thank you Jasmine !! Your package arrived in the mail on the weekend, but I wanted to thank you with a photo of two very happy recipients!  You knew how much I'd love mine and Gaby was so surprised to receive hers too! You're awesome and so very talented! While Gaby isn't sure she should wear hers everyday given her lifestyle, I've been confident (and careful!) putting mine on every morning! I just love it!

Jasmine ran a contest on her blog, and I was the lucky winner. This is her beautiful daughter choosing the lucky winner -- me !! And this is what we had to do to be eligible: check it out

Her blog is such a fun combination of life and art and the two sometimes colliding and it's become my favourite blog to visit (even before I won!) Check out her etsy shop too and you can get one of these beauties for yourself!  Jasmine's etsy shop

Thanks again Jasmine! XO

And thanks Nick for taking time out of your busy day to take these photos of us! XO

(sadly, the pictures don't do them justice -- they're more beautiful in real life!)

Half a Year of Lists!

Happy to have this fat and chunky collection and looking forward to double the fun by the end of the year!

Great fun!!

52 Lists for 2010 - List 27

Back to being a day late! Busy 4th of July weekend here that extended to yesterday.

But it wasn't too hard to hide inside air conditioned comfort and finish up this week's list.  Triple digit records were set and we're supposed to get more of the same tomorrow. Maybe I'll even work again on next week's list. We'll see! In the meantime, this week, the list of my biggest regrets.

I wet a piece of sticky back canvas, drew all over with water colour crayons and smudged it more with a wet finger. A few stamped images, some glaze pen and that good ole white sharpy, and done.

As always, I either finish and/or run out of room, and think of something else. That something else came up in a discussion with friends last week. I wish I had taken more photos of my grandparents when I was younger. Especially my Dad's parents, who farmed all of their adult lives. I remember my Baba always in a flowered dress, apron, work boots and a colourful babooshka. And cats eye glasses. My Gigi, always in suspenders (shlakes) , rolling his own cigarettes, an accomplishment in itself given that he was missing part of one thumb. He had his seat by the door in the winter house. I don't think anyone else ever sat there. I really should record these memories. I can picture so many moments with them, about them. I wish I could draw well enough to record them the way I remember them. They're truly priceless images.

I'm sure I'll come up with another item or two for this list. I know I'll come up with more memories of my Baba and Gigi.
